Tracking your Statistics

(and your opponents')

In order to know whether you are a losing, break-even or winning poker player, you will need to track down each of your poker sessions. This can be done manually (which I recommend, because sometimes software do make mistakes) or with a tracking device, like Poker Tracker 3. You can do this by putting your sessions into a Microsoft excel spread sheet, or you can use one of the sites I suggest.

You also want to know how your opponents are doing at their game. Winning players, or fish? Just make an account with OfficialPokerRankings and you will be set (with a few sites at least).

I have posted an excel spread sheet you can use to track your sessions, or you can use the site I give in the text file below, it's totally up to you. But tracking your wins and losses is VERY IMPORTANT, if you want to become a very successful poker player!

Using these poker tools is absolutely necessary if you are multi-tabling (which you should, if you want to make $1000+ a month). You are always up to date with your opponents reactions, and history of how they play. This information is actually sometimes even more important than the live tells you can use to your advantage at live poker games. I would rather have all my players history at my finger tips, rather than having their physical tells. Why? Well because past behavior will dictate present or future behavior. There are just too many factors to remember when sitting down at the poker table, thus it is crucial to have all this information at your finger tips when you are playing any poker game.

Lets start off by taking a look at some advanced poker theory. Those are my main strategies when it comes to playing STTs and MTTs, note that I sometimes play cash games full stacked or 1/2 stacked.

Indicator Series

The free versions of Holdem Indicator and Tournament Indicator that I show you how to get do not work with all sites. If you want to have access to all the listed sites that work with this amazing software, you should buy yourself a copy. The good news is that this software works with one of my favorite sites: PKR Poker. Not many software work with PKR Poker, so I am glad that they made the Indicator Series compatible. Keep in mind that the free version will work well on PartyPoker, Cake Poker, Full Tilt and Poker Stars. The sites could make updates anytime and the software might stop working, so make sure you always have the latest version of the software.

 Poker-Edge

One of the greatest programs ever invented for ONLINE POKER is Poker Edge. They have the largest databases on the most poker sites on the net! I showed you how you can build your own databases, with Poker Tracker 3 and the Indicator Series, but if you feel like you want to have more stats available without having to data mine manually with PT3 or Indicator this program could be a really good solution. The amazing thing about this software, which I actually think is worth the money just on its own, is the Poker Edge Table Selector. The awesome thing is that all you have to do when trying to find the most profitable/fishiest poker table is just type in a few criteria and Poker Edge will find you your DREAM poker table. Just with this feature alone (without player's stats) you can benefit from it in such a big way. When you sit down at these fishy tables you will be able to make 2x-5x the profit as you would playing a normal table with only 1 fish. This stuff is is REALLY LETHAL, and actually BANNED by some sites, so just BE CAREFUL! Enter your poker name below (or your opponents name) and see what Poker Edge says about you and YOUR stats!

I'm sure some of you have heard of poker bots being available on the net. The truth is there are quite a number of these out there. One of the first poker bots on the market was the WinHoldem bot, which was somewhat successful, but you had to monitor it from time to time. Another downside with a lot of the poker bots is that you have to manually program them (this can be a pain if you have no clue about programming or you are a beginner Hold'em player). The good news about the Shanky Poker Bot, is that it comes ready to use right out of the box! Below are two graphs showing some of my success, the one with about 8K hands at $0.44/100 is my own custom profile. The one with 17K hands at $0.29/100 is the free standard profile that you get when you purchase the bot. The last two graphs are from profitable limit profiles that you have to pay for (you can purchase these in the marketplace, on the shanky site). Any cash game player knows that these are great looking graphs. The amount won is all profit without rakeback. When I was playing I only set it up to play 1 table over night. Just do the math, if you are 4-tabling, you can easily bring in $100-200 a month + rakeback ($60-80)...while you sleep (that's the cool part). That's about $1920 - $3360 a year doing absolutely nothing. All those pennies at the 2c-1c add up at the end of the year...and they do!

Let's get a little technical here...

Let's use the free standard profile as an example. We make about 7bb/100 that means $0.29/100 = $0.0029 per hand. In a 10hr night we can play about 700 hands (1 tabling). This means we make $0.0029 x 700 = $2.03 every night. Single tabling we can make $740.95 per year, and add $240 in rakeback (that's $20 we get back each month on avg) for a total of $980.95 per year. Now if we play 4 tables every night, that just quadruples our total profits, throw in some extra variance (just in case)...so minus say, 20% of profits. This means $784.76/ year. Multiply this by 4 (4-tabling) you get a nice $3000+ yearly bonus for doing nothing!

Whats good, is that you can be a complete noob at poker, and still be a wise investor. This is all free money, Risk-Free!
