What is rake?
Almost every game of online poker has a charge attached or fee added, this is called the rake, it is how the poker rooms play at their online casino. This earns the make their cash and without it they wouldn’t exist.
For example in a $11 ten man game (Sit N Go) each player would typically pay $10 + $1 to enter. That extra dollar you pay is called rake, it is what the poker site charges you to poker room total of $10 for hosting the game and leave a further $100 to be paid as winnings. In a cash game, the rake is automatically taken from the pot. This rake is generally 5% of the pot or it gets capped at $3 (for higher stake games). This fee is generally accepted by the poker community, however, you can get some of your rake back!!
I have been playing poker online at PartyPoker for just under a year and I have given PartyPoker about $1000 in rake! If I had the average 30% rake back, I would be getting $300 for back, at the end of the year! I don't know about you but that is a lot of money for me!

Unfortunately PartyPoker does not have rake back like some of the other sites do, but it does make up for it for the amout of fish it supplies for the better players. It used to be the biggest poker room until they decided to cut the American players. Right now PokerStars is the biggest room, and even they don't offer rake back!!! Although there are many sites that do offer rake back, and here is a breif list of the popular ones: Full Tilt, PKR, Absolute Poker, Ultimate Bet, Cake Poker, Carbon Poker, these are just to name a few that came to mind.

Every smart poker player knows that rake back is necessary, especially when playing cash games!
